Bisi Alade, the Ogun Area II Controller of the Nigeria Customs Service, has asked for the support of traditional rulers in the state to combat smuggling and economic sabotage.
Alade has also stated that the Nigeria Police is a reliable partner that consistently collaborates with the Nigeria Customs to address criminal activities in the country.
Therefore, he appealed to the state Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, to maintain the ongoing collaborative efforts that help strengthen the country's security.
As per the statement on Sunday, the customs boss spoke during separate visits to the Alake and Paramount ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, and the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu.
During the visit to the traditional ruler, Alade stated, “The Nigeria Customs acknowledges the importance of our royal fathers. They are essential for maintaining peace and security across the state.
“Our purpose here is to seek the support of our royal fathers in our renewed commitment to carry out our duties as outlined by the law. We require the cooperation of the traditional rulers, and we hope that the established synergy will be maintained for the betterment and prosperity of our nation.”
In response, Oba Gbadebo mentioned that other traditional rulers across the state are always ready to support all government agencies that are constitutionally empowered to contribute to the socio-economic development of the country.
The state commissioner of police, Alamutu, also assured the support of the police command to the new Customs boss, affirming that the Controller can always rely on the existing cooperation between the two security agencies to eliminate all forms of illegal activities from the state.
