The Edo State Police Command's officers have started looking for a man named Promise who is accused of raping a 13-year-old girl in the state.
It is reported that the suspect raped the girl until she lost consciousness in the Uwa area in Oredo Local Government Area of the state.
It was discovered that the suspect enticed the girl into his room, raped her, left her unconscious, and then fled.
SP Chidi Nwabuzor, the state command’s spokesperson, confirmed the incident.
He stated that the head of Adesuwa Police Station in Benin received a defilement report on March 27 from the victim's mother, who lives along Uwa Street off Sapele Road Benin.
According to him, the woman reported to the station that her 13-year-old daughter was raped and left unconscious by someone named Promise, whose last name was not yet known.
He mentioned that the victim was taken to the Edo State Specialist Hospital for medical treatment.
He shared, "I can confirm that the police received a report of defilement. A person named Promise allegedly raped a 13-year-old girl until she was unconscious and has since fled."
Chidi stated that the police are currently making efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspect and bring him to justice.
