It's believed that kidnappers who may be herders killed a man named Inofomoh Gabriel, who worked as a civil servant and also farmed in Edo State.
On Sunday, it was discovered that this took place in the Jattu community, the main location of the Uzairue clan, in Etsako West Local Government area of Edo State.
It was also found out that the victim, who was also a staff member at Auchi Polytechnic, went to the farm last Wednesday but did not return home.
A source in the community mentioned that when the man didn't return home, a search team started looking for him in the bush and found his body on Saturday.
According to the source, “The man went to the farm on Wednesday and didn't come back. A search team began looking in the bush on Thursday and eventually found his body on Saturday in the bush, with cuts from a machete all over his body.
“We suspect that herders who have been kidnapping farmers in the area and in some cases killing their victims are responsible.”
The incident has been reported at the Jattu Police Division, with a station source confirming the event, although they were not authorized to speak about it.
When reached for comment, Chidi Nwabuzor, the Edo State Police Command’s spokesperson, stated he would provide information after contacting the divisional police officer at the Jattu division.
