On Wednesday, March 27, P.J. Pribula, chairman Luzerne County Republican Party resigned due to the increasing impact of radical members of a small group within the local Republican Party.
Some of the unpleasant language used within the local small group has been affected by the MAGA extremist movement that aims to split the country and create disorder in Washington (as well as state and local governments), defy election law, ridicule and attack people of various genders, races, beliefs and orientations while hiding online.
Despite the fact that political discussions may become intense at times, we can definitely hold different views without being disrespectful. I was disgusted to hear about the actions of this local small group.
We need to understand the importance of safeguarding the people targeted by this group and that elected officials should cater to everyone's needs, regardless of party. We seek a shared objective of politeness and stability in government.
While some Republican elected officials and party leaders are trying to dismantle, we should aim to construct. We should enhance our infrastructure, educational opportunities and protection of the United States and its allies overseas.
At times, it might seem like there is much we won't see eye to eye on. However, I am extending an invitation to Republican Party members who feel that their party has deserted them and embraced hate and division, to vote for the Democratic Party this November to help protect democracy.
