The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, has instructed continuous patrol around different public areas, especially places of worship, during and after the Easter celebration.
Alamutu has thus ordered the area commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Tactical Commanders to safeguard their respective areas against crime and criminal activities as Easter celebration reaches its peak.
The CP mentioned that locations like Long Bridge, Bamboo, Four Square, Alapako, Onigari, Ogunmakin, Straightgate, worship centres beside the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, as well as financial institutions and other areas with high crime rates across the state, will experience increased security measures to prevent any unlawful activities.
This information was given in a statement released by the spokesperson for the state police command, SP Omolola Odutola, on Saturday.
The statement partly stated, “In order to ensure a peaceful celebration of Easter, the Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, CP Alamutu Abiodun, has ordered round-the-clock security and protection of public spaces during and after the celebrations.
“An operation order has been encapsulated directing Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Tactical Commanders, to safeguard their areas of jurisdiction against crime and criminality.
“Residents of Ogun State, as well as visitors, will observe the heavy presence of police officers who have been deployed to man entry and exit points, and to carry out aggressive checks in areas like garage parks, perform routine patrols, and block off certain roads for stop and search operations, all for the safety of residents.
“Residents and fun seekers are encouraged to cooperate fully whenever they encounter security personnel on duty.
“Intelligence-based policing will be enforced to effectively combine collaborative efforts with other security agencies to supplement the operational capabilities of the police.
“Therefore, residents will notice inter-agency surveillance as directed by the Commissioner of Police, all in an effort to prevent sudden attacks or any form of violence escalation.
“Locations such as Long Bridge, Bamboo, Four Square, Alapako, Onigari, Ogunmakin, Straight Gate, worship centres, and financial institutions, will see increased security measures to prevent potential attacks, having carefully monitored the methods of criminals who may want to take advantage of the festive season to carry out illegal activities.
