The FCT Administration is dedicated to making sure the 2024 Hajj pilgrimage happens without any issues.
Dr Mariya Mahmoud, the FCT Minister of State, gave this pledge during a seminar for officials and intending pilgrims at the Permanent Hajj Camp, Bassan Jiwa, in Abuja on Saturday.
Dr Abdullahi Isah, representing Mahmoud, stated that the administration is proactive in making sure intending pilgrims follow the necessary policies for the exercise.
The administration organized the seminar to inform officials and intending pilgrims about potential challenges during the Hajj in Saudi Arabia.
This shows the administration's seriousness about achieving more success in the exercise.
Mahmoud mentioned that the FCT Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has started implementing strategies to ensure the success of this year’s Hajj and expressed confidence in the exercise's success.
The current administration believes that the pilgrimage to the holy land is a once-in-a-lifetime journey for every Muslim who is able to participate.
The present administration is determined to do everything possible to ensure that the FCT group receives the best treatment compared to any other state or even the world in all aspects.
The minister expressed confidence in the commitment of the officials and the conduct of the intending pilgrims, stating her belief that this year’s Hajj operation will be more successful than previous ones, despite challenges.
Abubakar Evuti, the Director of FCT Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, mentioned that the board had conducted two phases of educational and orientation exercises, and that the radio enlightenment program would begin after fasting.
Evuti noted that the board had a low turnout of intending pilgrims for the 2024 exercise due to the high hajj fares, but assured that the board will continue with its activities in line with the efforts of the FCT Administration.
This is coming days after the Chief Whip of the Senate, Ali Ndume, rejected the increase in the fees for the 2024 Hajj by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria.
Ndume said the development was unfair and a deliberate plan to deny Nigerian Muslims the opportunity to participate in the exercise.
