The National Examinations Council has finalized plans to administer the Senior School Certificate Examinations (Internal) in Saudi Arabia.
This happened after the Nigeria International School in Jeddah was officially approved by a NECO team led by Education Minister Dr. Yusuf Sununu and NECO Registrar Prof. Ibrahim Wushishi.
During the visit, the team evaluated the school facilities and talked with the school's management and staff.
This information was conveyed in a statement issued by NECO on Saturday.
The statement stated, "Dr. Sununu, in his speech, encouraged the school's staff and students to represent Nigeria well not just in Saudi Arabia, but in the entire Gulf States Cooperation Council.
He explained that after carefully assessing the school’s facilities for learning, such as examination halls, classrooms, laboratories, library, curriculum, syllabus, and overall security, the Nigeria International School Jeddah was deemed suitable to be an international NECO SSCE Internal center, and was consequently granted full accreditation.
“The Registrar/Chief Executive of NECO, Prof. Wushishi, who provided a brief history of NECO's development, explained to the school's management and staff the significance of school accreditation, which is to ensure that schools have adequate facilities for teaching and learning that are suitable for examinations.
The team was greeted on their arrival at the school by the Consular General, Bello Kazaure, and the school's owner, Abdulkadir Maikudi, along with other school staff.
The minister and the NECO registrar also visited the Nigeria House in Jeddah, where they engaged with the Consular General and other consulate staff.
NECO had previously approved some international examination centers in Togo, Benin Republic, Equatorial Guinea, Niger, and the Republic of Gabon.
