The Federal Road Safety Corps' Lagos State Command has sent 3,500 personnel across the state to ensure residents' safety during Easter.
The deployed personnel include regular and special marshals.
They have also sent out 45 patrol vehicles, three ambulances, 11 power bikes, and three heavy-duty tow trucks.
Babatunde Farinloye, the Sector Commander, made the announcement in a statement signed by the Corp’s Sector Public Education Officer, Olabisi Sonusi, stating that the personnel will focus on corridors like Lagos-Ibadan, Lekki-Epe, Lagos-Abeokuta, Oshodi-Apapa, and Lagos-Badagry.
They will work on ensuring smooth traffic flow, addressing speed violations, dangerous driving, phone use while driving, overloading, and other dangerous actions, as well as responding promptly to emergencies.
The statement mentioned, “Other offenses such as commercial drivers not having passengers’ manifest, failure to use seat belts, and use of worn-out or expired tires will also be addressed.
“The sector commander mentioned that the command will carry out extensive public awareness at major motor parks and religious centers, while Regular and Special Marshals will be present on the roads for traffic management during the period.
“He added that the corps will collaborate with the Nigeria Police, National Emergency Management Agency, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and Lagos State Traffic Management Authority in case of any emergency.
“He, however, expressed confidence that motorists will cooperate with traffic managers on the roads to minimize accidents.
“He urged the motoring public to use the FRSC toll-free number 122 in case of emergencies during their journeys.”
