Operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps have apprehended 63 people at different places for crossing the road without using the pedestrian bridges and for participating in street vending.
The state Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, mentioned this in a post on his X handle on Friday.
The caption says, “63 individuals were apprehended yesterday by the officials of Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps #LAGESCOfficial(KAI) at different locations in the state for crossing the road without using the pedestrian bridge, and street vending.
“Some of these locations include Oshodi Oke, Ile Epo, Ikoyi, Victoria Island, Ajah, etc. They have been charged to the court for prosecution in line with the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Protection Law 2017.”
Thirteen people were arrested on Thursday for crossing the road without using the pedestrian bridge at the Oshodi Oke area of the state.
PUNCH reported in February that the Lagos State Government urged residents to use pedestrian bridges as it described the crossing of major highways in the state by pedestrians as an offense.
It added that any defaulter caught will be prosecuted.
