WILKES-BARRE — All Belgium held a ribbon-cutting event for their new location at Livingstone Lane, Wilkes-Barre on Thursday.
All Belgium received funding from the Spark Wilkes-Barre grant program, which is now closed.
Billy Berry and Toon De Schepper, who met at Wilkes University, started All Belgium. When Toon, a Belgian native, came to the US, he missed the taste of authentic Belgian waffles. He noticed that the Belgian waffles on restaurant menus did not resemble the real ones, so he wanted to take action.
In 2021, Toon shared the idea with his roommate, Billy, and the famous red All Belgium waffle truck was created. After serving schools and businesses in the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton area, they decided to expand with a larger truck in Chicago, IL.
Toon and Billy expressed their desire to expand their menu, join delivery platforms, and introduce online shipping. However, they needed a physical location.
With a presence in Wilkes-Barre and Chicago, they had to decide on a location. Wilkes-Barre was chosen because it was where they started and the Spark program provided support for a proper store launch.
All Belgium has broadened its menu to include various waffles, ice cream, and coffee. They are now accessible on major delivery platforms, offer nationwide shipping, and have their own delivery system for college dorms without extra charges. Their food trucks are still in operation.
