A former federal lawmaker and member of the Peoples Democratic Party, Farah Dagogo, has urged President Bola Tinubu to increase efforts to improve the country's economy and ease the current difficulties.
Dagogo issued the statement through his media aide, Ibrahim Lawal, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State on Thursday.
He also called on other government leaders at all levels to do the same to enhance the welfare of their citizens and reduce their hardships, stating that by doing so, they would be supporting the President.
Dagogo acknowledged that while the country is facing tough times, these difficulties and challenges could be overcome with the right policies.
“Our country is at a critical point. It's clear that the country is going through tough times. But it's not all bad if the right policies are pursued and put into action.
“As a strong believer in Nigeria's potential for prosperity, I urge everyone to take advantage of this solemn period and continue to pray for the country and its people.
“It is also crucial for leaders at all levels, including President Bola Tinubu, to intensify their efforts not only in improving the economy and development of the country, but also in ensuring the implementation of appropriate policies to alleviate the suffering experienced across the country.
“Let us also use this period to remember and show sympathy for loved ones, and pray for the souls of civilians and security personnel who have been affected by the insecurity that is plaguing our country,” he stated.
Regarding Easter, Dagogo urged all leaders in positions of authority to follow the valuable lessons and sacrifices of Jesus Christ and be willing to inconvenience themselves to enhance the lives of the people.
He reminded Christians of their duties to promote peace, love, tolerance, and unity, following the example of Jesus Christ.
“This Holy and blessed period of Easter should not only be about celebration but should be seen as a time for sober reflection, for all of us to come together, regardless of religious or political beliefs, and pray for positive intervention from God in the affairs of our nation,” he added.
