A Judge in California has made a ruling to disbar John Eastman, the architect behind Trump's attempted overthrow, revoking his law license.
Politico's report stated:
According to Politico, a Judge in California recommended taking away John Eastman's law license on Wednesday for his involvement in Trump's unsuccessful last-minute effort to undermine the 2020 election.
During months of hearings, Judge Yvette Roland concluded that the senior conservative lawyer violated ethical rules and potentially even broke the law by supporting Trump's attempt to overturn the election results using unsubstantiated fraud claims.
…
Judge Roland stated, “Considering the serious and extensive nature of Eastman’s unethical actions, the harshest available professional punishment is necessary to protect the public and uphold trust in the legal system.”
Eastman was the mastermind behind the false elector plan and the scheme to prevent the certification of the 2020 presidential election. This information came out during testimony before the 1/6 Committee, and he knew that the coup plan was illegal, and he was aware that his efforts to keep Trump in power were against the law. However, he believed that the Supreme Court would allow Trump's unlawful seizure of power.
The disbarment concerning his role in Trump's failed coup, as well as the potential disbarment of Jeffrey Clark, should serve as a strong message that what Trump and his allies tried to do in 2020 was illegal.
Although it may appear that there are no repercussions for Trump and his partners, consequences are on the way, and disbarment is one of them for participating in a coup attempt.
