Ryan Gosling, who was nominated for an Oscar for “Barbie”, is now becoming a producer as he and partner Jesse Henderson launch General Admission, a production company focused on working with filmmakers to create movies and shows in all genres.
At the same time, the company has signed a three-year first-look agreement with Amazon MGM Studios. This means that Amazon MGM Studios will have the first opportunity to consider narrative films, some of which will feature Gosling himself.
Courtenay Valenti, head of film, streaming, and theatrical at Amazon MGM Studios, expressed excitement about Ryan Gosling and Jesse Henderson bringing their new company, General Admission, to Amazon MGM Studios. She praised their passion and extraordinary storytelling, as well as Gosling's exceptional creativity and talent. Valenti also mentioned that they are looking forward to making significant and distinctive movies with Gosling and Henderson.
Gosling mentioned feeling very fortunate to have partners like Jesse Henderson and Courtenay Valenti in this venture. He emphasized Henderson's unique experience, intuition, work ethic, and relationships, as well as Valenti's strong leadership, artistic instincts, and clarity of vision. He also expressed excitement about being part of Amazon MGM Studios and working with Valenti, citing the studio's history of producing some of the greatest films of all time.
Gosling also expressed gratitude for working with Courtenay Valenti on 'Barbie' and their upcoming film 'Project Hail Mary'. He praised her leadership, artistic instincts, and vision, and mentioned feeling honored to be involved in the next chapter of the iconic studio.
The only project mentioned as part of this deal is “Project Hail Mary,” in which Gosling plays an astronaut on a mission to save Earth. The film is directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, with a screenplay by Drew Goddard based on the novel by Andy Weir, author of “The Martian.”
Gosling was recently nominated for an Oscar for his role as Ken in Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie.”
