Southeast APC leaders expressed their confidence in Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, who has been assigned as the party’s coordinator in the region.
The group of leaders includes the National Vice Chairman (Southeast), Dr. Ijeomah Arodiogbu, and State Chairmen in the area.
This happened shortly after the APC Chairman, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, appointed Uzodimma as one of the six coordinators of the party’s affairs in the six geo-political zones of the country.
They conveyed their confidence in a letter signed by Arodiogbu and the Anambra State Chairman, Basil Ejidike.
The party leaders stated, “With Governor Uzodimma officially leading the activities of the Party in the South East, the APC will be in control of the governorship and legislative positions in the five states of the region and will also secure a majority of seats from the region at the National Assembly in the next round of election.”
The APC state chairmen, who promised to support Uzodimma, praised the APC national leadership for appointing him in recognition of his efforts in strengthening the party’s foundation in the Southeast.
They remarked that the Imo governor was selected due to “his popularity and widespread acceptance across various segments of the population in the region” and his “profound understanding of the social and political dynamics of the region and outstanding ability for party mobilisation”.
“We commend the national leadership of our great Party for appointing Governor Hope Uzodimma to lead our Party’s charge in the South East.
“This appointment is in acknowledgment of Governor Uzodimma’s relentless efforts in mobilizing support and building the APC, transforming it from an unknown party in the region to a major and leading political party in the area.
“Because of Governor Uzodimma’s remarkable ability for political mobilisation and his performance in office, other political parties are now merging into the APC in the South East,” the letter read.
The Southeast leaders declared that influential political figures such as former state governors, ministers, diplomats, national and state legislators, local government officials, and youth groups are joining the APC under the guidance of Governors Uzodimma and Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State.
The State Chairmen also urged all APC members in the region to prepare for the upcoming task, stating that the Party is now well-received in the Southeast.
