During a traffic stop on Sunday afternoon in Norway House, the RCMP found a backpack filled with ecstasy pills and over $2,500 in cash.
Authorities stopped a vehicle on Highway 373 in the northern Manitoba community after noticing it was unregistered and being driven by a 21-year-old woman without a valid licence.
Upon further investigation, the police discovered that a 20-year-old passenger was violating conditions of his recent release order and had an outstanding warrant.
According to police, a search beneath the passenger's seat uncovered the backpack containing the pills and cash.
The man, hailing from Kinosao Sipi Cree Nation, was arrested and is facing charges such as possession for the purpose of trafficking, possessing property obtained by crime, and failure to comply with a release order.
The RCMP is currently conducting an ongoing investigation.
