Toronto police say 48 stolen vehicles have been taken as part of a covert probe.
Police gathered details during a hidden inquiry into drug and gun trafficking, prompting them to start a separate inquiry in August specifically targeting stolen vehicles.
Authorities reveal that 20 vehicles were found at a shipping location in Burlington, Ont., and 20 more were intercepted with the help of border agents in Toronto and Montreal.
They add that undercover agents bought five of the other seized vehicles during the investigation.
In total, police have apprehended seven individuals and filed 150 charges in connection with both investigations.
Police have identified several businesses in the Greater Toronto Area as places where stolen vehicles were stored and sold before being shipped abroad.
Total value of these vehicles. $3.75 million dollars. In all 7 people were arrested and charged. 150 charges in total for both projects.
