The RCMP announced that two people have died in a intense crash northeast of Edmonton on Tuesday.
Right before noon, Fort Saskatchewan RCMP reported a serious collision on Highway 825 near Boysdale Road, located in Sturgeon County just north of Fort Saskatchewan.
There are not many details available about the crash, but photos from the scene showed several vehicles involved, including a fuel tanker truck, a semi, and two smaller pickup trucks.
A fire started due to the crash, and a large cloud of black smoke went up into the air.
Alberta Health Services said EMS responded to the crash shortly after 11 a.m. Two patients were evaluated, but both refused to go to the hospital, according to AHS.
It’s not clear how many other people might have been involved in the crash. RCMP mentioned that more information will be provided later on Wednesday.
Traffic in the area north of Fort Saskatchewan was redirected for most of the day. Prior to 8 p.m., RCMP confirmed that the collision had been cleared.
