The studio will release the follow-up to the 2022 DreamWorks animated movie “The Bad Guys” in August 2025, according to TheWrap.
The new movie shows the main characters, the Bad Guys, dealing with challenges in their new lives as Good Guys. They are called back to action by a group of female criminals for one final mission.
Sam Rockwell will play the reformed pickpocket Mr. Wolf again, and Marc Maron, Craig Robinson, Anthony Ramos, and Awkwafina will also reprise their roles. Other cast members include Zazie Beetz, Richard Ayoade, Alex Borstein, and Lilly Singh as Tiffany Fluffit.
Pierre Perifel, the director of the first film, will also direct this one. Damon Ross will return as producer. JP Sans moves up to co-director, and Daniel Pemberton will compose the score.
The original film was based on books by Aaron Blabey and centered on a group of animal criminals pretending to be reformed in order to cause more chaos.
TheWrap’s review of “The Bad Guys” praised the film’s humor and described an exciting chase scene involving a motorway, a helicopter, a meteorite, and a wave of hypnotized guinea pigs.
This sequel follows the release of “The Bad Guys: A Very Bad Holiday Special” on Netflix four months earlier.
“The Bad Guys 2” will hit theaters on August 1, 2025.
