“In the face of various challenges and threats, both foreign and domestic, our courageous soldiers stand firm on the frontline, risking their lives to maintain the peace and stability of our nation.
From countering insurgency and terrorism to upholding law and order during civil unrest, the Nigerian Army has consistently shown strong determination to uphold the sovereignty and dignity of the nation.
“Their persistence in the face of adversity serves as a source of hope and inspiration to us all.
The loss of innocent lives is a serious concern that requires our collective attention and action. We need to thoroughly investigate the causes of these unfortunate events and find effective solutions to prevent their recurrence.
During our meeting on Tuesday, we will comprehensively review the operational procedures used by the Nigerian Army in drone operations, with a specific focus on improving safety measures to reduce the risk of friendly fire and civilian casualties.
In his presentation, the CDS explained that the Defence headquarters has established a solid set of operations standards to ensure the safety of not only its personnel but also civilians during operations.
“We are achieving successes here and there, but the challenges persist. We will remain dedicated to the security of this country, aiming to rid it of criminal elements so that progress can be made in all our activities.
The CDS expressed sincere regrets on behalf of the Armed Forces for the unfortunate incident in Kaduna State, and also asked for forgiveness for the shortcomings of those who lost their lives there.
“I want to assure the House that the Armed Forces is a professional body, and during our discussion, we will address that.
“We have rules and regulations that guide our operations. We occasionally teach and hold workshops to incorporate these rules and regulations.”
“It's unfortunate what happened. The CDS has ordered that all necessary steps be taken to ensure that such an incident does not occur in the future.”
