It has been 33 years since the four-year-old Michael Dunahee went missing from a playground in Victoria.
The Victoria police are still working on the investigation and the case is still one of the biggest missing persons cases in the country.
On March 24, 1991, at about 12:30 p.m., Michael disappeared from the Blanshard School playground while family members were nearby.
The area was quite crowded at the time due to a football game.
Hundreds of people, including volunteers and police, searched for the boy in the following weeks and months, but without any success.
A few years ago, Victoria police established an online portal, hoping it would bring forth new leads in the search for Michael.
Michael's family has transformed their tragedy into a grassroots effort to safeguard other families.
The annual Michael Dunahee 'Keep The Hope Alive' walk/run has become a tradition in the community.
This year's walk will take place on Sunday and will cover a five-kilometre route through the Esquimalt neighborhood.
An online fundraiser has raised over $1,690 which will be given to Child Find BC.
