Many people in Nova Scotia lost electricity on Sunday morning because of strong winds and rain.
According to Nova Scotia Power’s outage map, about 20,933 homes had no electricity at 10:24 a.m. Some places may not have power until later in the evening.
Nova Scotia Power, a privately owned company that provides electricity across the province, mentioned in a social media post that they are dealing with outages caused by high winds and rain.

Power outages have happened from Yarmouth to Cape Breton, with some areas experiencing more severe effects than others.
Close to 3,500 individuals are without power around Bridgewater and Mahone Bay, while 56 outages have affected 4,955 homes in the Halifax area. Over 1,400 residents in Cape Breton are still without electricity.
The communities near the town of Tusket, close to Yarmouth, were seriously affected, and 2,824 people are still without power in that small area.
Even though most of the strong winds and rain occurred overnight and ended early on Sunday morning, Environment Canada has issued wind warnings for the northern and eastern parts of Cape Breton. The weather agency stated that parts of Sydney, Inverness, and Victoria County can expect 80-kilometre-per-hour winds.
The weather update warned about strong winds that could cause damage.
The update also mentioned that loose objects may be blown by the wind, causing harm or damage, and there may be utility outages.
Environment Canada stated that the weather conditions in the area are expected to improve by early Sunday afternoon.
