It might be a long break in college football activity, but the Georgia Bulldogs are actively looking for new players. They might be getting another top receiver.
On3.com is forecasting Georgia's high chances of getting wide receiver Travis Smith, with a 95% probability, over other competitors like Alabama, Auburn, and Tennessee. Smith is a four-star receiver ranked as the 99th best prospect in the 2025 class and the 11th best receiver.
At Atlanta’s Westlake High School, Smith stands out as a physical receiver at 6-foot-3 and 200 pounds. His size has led to comparisons with seven-time Pro Bowler Julio Jones. It's clear that Smith has a lot to achieve to match Jones’ success, but it's a good sign.
“Former professional football player and Georgia Bulldog great Terrence Edwards is training Travis Smith and believes he can be as good as some of the best pass-catchers to come out of the Southeast in recent generations,” On3.com stated. “‘He’s big, fast and powerful like Julio Jones,’ Edwards said. ‘He has everything – height, speed, and tracking ability.'”
There are rumors about star receiver Travis Smith being very impressed by his recruiting visit with the Bulldogs in March.
Smith visited Athens in March and is praising Kirby Smart’s coaching staff. Georgia is expected to be the landing spot for one of the top wide receivers of the 2025 class.
“It was very competitive, and I enjoyed seeing the guys compete,” Smith told On3.com’s DawgsHQ in an article from March 18 titled, “4-star WR Travis Smith gets an inside look into Georgia’s culture.” “I liked that. I enjoyed how active they were, especially on the first day. I can imagine how my first day in the spring would be if I went there. It was a great experience.”
Georgia's recruiting class for 2025 is ranked 11th in the nation,
according to 247Sports . It includes five-star defensive linemen Justus Terry, four-star tight end Elyiss Williams, and four-star linebacker Jadon Perlotte.According to On3.com’s Jeremy Johnson , Georgia is the top contender to recruit Smith. “It's no secret that Smith has loved Georgia from the start of this process,” Johnson explained in a story from March 5 titled, “Inside RPM predictions for four major Georgia targets.” “Georgia saw Smith at a camp and gave him a vote of confidence. Smith is also a key target in his home state, and his position fills a need for Georgia.
“The Bulldogs have many talented receivers, but none have the same abilities as Smith. His size and speed make him a special option for Georgia,” Johnson added.
“The addition of James Coley hasn’t slowed down the momentum here. Smith was one of the first calls. Smith is excited about the opportunity to develop in Athens and could make an impact during his time there due to his unique abilities.”
