The Minnesota Vikings are checking out this year's new quarterback prospects as part of their responsibility.
After sending a quarterback coach Josh McCown (possibly others) to witness Caleb Williams’s exhibition in SoCal, they also went to Ann Arbor to watch J.J. McCarthy’s display which was attended by numerous NFL personnel.
Josh McCown and assistant QBs coach Grant Udinski are set to be at Michigan QB JJ McCarthy’s Pro Day in Ann Arbor in the morning, as reported by
Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer on March 22. McCarthy is expected to be the fourth quarterback picked in the 2024 draft (April 25). He may be selected within the top 10 picks. The Vikings are connected to several QB prospects, not just J.J. McCarthy.

Atlanta Falcons in free agency and currently stand at No. 11, acquired the No. 23 overall pick through a trade with the to the Houston Texans sparking rumors of their interest in trading up for a new quarterback. That player could be McCarthy, who is skilled at processing the game and has received comparisons
The Vikings are most closely associated with Jayden Daniels to Drew Brees.
. McCown coached Maye in high school, and the Vikings have a high opinion of him. Drake Maye and “McCown’s involvement is useful because he can connect with veterans and has experience working with highly rated draftees (The Athletic’s Alec Lewis wrote on March 4. “McCown previously coached North Carolina’s Drake Maye, a player the Vikings hold in high regard.”
Daniels is also appealing to the Vikings.Sam Darnold, Jalen Hurts, Bryce Young, etc.),” “Minnesota recognizes the need to address the quarterback position for the long term,” ESPN’s Dan Graziano wrote on February 10. “The idea of bringing in Daniels to pair with their standout LSU wide receiver
Justin Jefferson
is enticing to some in the organization.” McCarthy could be a good compromise between Daniels and Maye, and it may be cheaper for the Vikings to secure his draft position. The delegation sent to Michigan’s pro day by the Vikings may not be the most revealing part. The Vikings watched PFF’s 4th-ranked DT at Michigan Pro Day Kris Jenkins #DL13 of the Michigan Wolverines.
Along with McCown and Udinski, the Vikings also had representatives at the Wolverines’ defensive line,
as stated by Reese’s Senior Bowl Executive Director Jim Nagy
. That group includes

Pro Football Focus’ fifth-ranked defensive tackle in the class.“Jenkins is one of the strongest players in the entire draft class, but his arm-length restrictions and lack of pass-rushing ability will likely restrict his draft stock to a mid-to-late Day 2 selection,” PFF’s analysis on Jenkins’ draft profile, reads. “However, his solid skills present starting potential in a 4-3 scheme.” The Vikings utilize a hybrid defensive scheme under defensive coordinator
Brian Flores They used traditional linemen for the third-fewest amount of snaps (386) of any team in the league last season, according to ESPN’s Kevin Seifert on February 1.
Harrison Phillips , who has started 34 games in the last two seasons, makes up the rest of the team's defensive line..
next summer. And Jonathan Bullard , who ended the 2023 season as the second-highest player in playing time at his position, is set to become a free agent in the upcoming offseason.
Jenkins is very similar, and he might be a choice for the Vikings. The Vikings might need to trade up to acquire him. He is ranked as the 60th best prospect, but the Vikings do not have a free agency selection in the second or third rounds Other Wolverines aside from McCarthy may catch the Vikings' interest, such as cornerback Mike Sainristil, who is ranked 36th overall by PFF andseventh among cornerbacks
. Wide receiver Roman Wilson is another option.
PFF ranks Wilson as the 47th best prospect overall and the eighth best wide receiver.
, and notes that he would be ranked higher in a different group. The Minnesota Vikings sent a potentially revealing delegation to attend J.J. McCarthy’s pro day.. Wide receiver Roman Wilson is another.
PFF ranks Wilson the No. 47 overall prospect and the eighth-ranked wideout, noting he’d be higher in a different class.
