Renee Poche's $4 million legal dispute with Netflix and Delirium TV will not be publicly disclosed, as per a judge's decision obtained by TheWrap. Instead, the issue will need to be settled through arbitration.
Judge Bruce G. Iwasaki of the LA Superior Court decided that Poche and her legal team's strong language was not backed by any evidence that going through arbitration would harm Poche. Despite her agreement with Delirium stating that legal matters would be handled through arbitration, Poche and her team wanted a public trial. The judge also expressed doubt about Poche's right to request the broad relief she sought in her motion against Delirium and Netflix.
Lawyers Larry Iser and Allen Secretov, representing Delirium TV for Kinsella Holley Iser Kump Steinsapir LLP, stated that they did not want to engage in a legal battle with Poche. They also mentioned that before filing for arbitration, Poche was warned to stop giving unauthorized interviews, with the breaches leading to Delirium's decision to file for arbitration.
Iser and Secretov concluded, "Instead of following her contract, heeding the warnings, or participating in mediation, Ms. Poche continued to breach. Delirium will now proceed with its original plan and address its claims against Ms. Poche in arbitration." Poche stated in January that the $4 million lawsuit filed against her was despite her only earning $8,000 from her appearance on the show.
Poche filed a lawsuit in response to Delirium TV's legal action against her for allegedly violating her NDA agreement. In January, she filed a lawsuit against both Delirium TV and Netflix, claiming she felt unsafe during her time on the show and was paired with a violent alcoholic and drug addict during Season 5 of Netflix's reality dating series.
My experience on 'Love is Blind' was traumatic, Poche said Poche stated in a message obtained by TheWrap. She expressed feeling like a prisoner and lacking support when she informed Delirium that she felt unsafe. She also accused Delirium of attempting to silence the abuse happening off-screen and of trying to discredit her for speaking the truth.
