“I wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you, personally, for all the wonderful messages of support and for your understanding whilst I have been recovering from surgery,” Middleton began. “It has been an incredibly tough couple of months for our entire family, but I’ve had a fantastic medical team who have taken great care of me, for which I am so grateful.”
On her way to the surgery, she explained, "In January, I had a major operation on my abdomen in London and it was initially believed to be non-cancerous. The surgery was successful, but later tests revealed the presence of cancer."
She also stated, "So my medical team recommended that I undergo a series of preventive chemotherapy sessions, and I am currently in the early stages of that treatment."
Regarding her absence from the public, she mentioned, "This was a huge shock, and William and I have been handling it privately to protect our young family. It has taken time for me to recover from the surgery and begin my treatment."
She added, "But the most important thing was to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is suitable for them, and to assure them that I will be alright. I have told them that I am well and getting stronger every day by focusing on things that will aid my recovery in my mind, body, and spirits."
She expressed, "Having William by my side has been a great source of comfort and reassurance. So has the love, support, and kindness shown by many of you. We hope you will understand that, as a family, we now need some time, space, and privacy while I undergo my treatment."
She mentioned, "My work has always brought me great joy and I am eager to return when I am able, but for now I must concentrate on making a full recovery."
She added, "At this time, I am also thinking of all those whose lives have been impacted by cancer. For all those facing this disease, in any form, please do not lose faith or hope. You are not alone."
