Max has released the first preview for 'The Penguin,' its Colin Farrell-led spinoff series located in the Batman DC universe.
"When I was young, there was a mobster, really old-fashioned type. Rex Calabrese. He was a big deal," a seated Farrell as Oz Cobb, also known as The Penguin, menacingly states in this initial preview. "He assisted people. He saw you on the street, he would approach you."
Oz then recalls that when he was a teenager, Rex Calabrese passed away with a cigar in his hand. To honor him, his neighborhood held a parade. "It wasn't extravagant but it was a gesture, a display of affection for what he symbolized," Oz continues. As he speaks, the video shifts between scenes of people unsheathing knives, firing at passing cars, and shouting.
"Can you envision being remembered in that way?" Oz concludes as the music intensifies. Watch the preview above.
The eight-part series is scheduled to debut this autumn on the streaming service. Alongside Farrell, the series features Cristin Milioti, Rhenzy Feliz, Michael Kelly, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Deirdre O'Connell, Clancy Brown, and Michael Zegen.
