WRIGHT TWP. — During the regular meeting on Thursday, the Crestwood School Board approved Matt Lavigna, Class of 1983, and Diane Madl, Class of 1985, as the next recipients of the Distinguished Alumni Award.
Madl, a native of Mountain Top, was a standout field hockey player at Crestwood in the early 1980s. She went on to achieve great success at the University of Connecticut, where she contributed to winning the 1985 NCAA Division I national title. Madl also represented the U.S. National Team and participated in the 1996 Summer Games in Atlanta. She has been a role model for other field hockey players in the area and is currently the head coach at Providence College.
Lavigna served in the United States Secret Service for around 26 years, leading criminal investigations and providing security for four presidents. He later held important roles in cyber forensics and training.
The board also accepted resignations from Donald Flynn, the head junior high baseball coach, and Mitchell Forgash, the assistant varsity girls track coach.
For track, the board appointed new coaches and set their respective salaries.
In lacrosse, the board named Kim Schular as the new assistant varsity coach.
In baseball, the board appointed Joseph Dorbad as varsity assistant/junior varsity along with John Chupka as the assistant junior high coach.
The board also approved other matters:
• Leah Mullholand was approved as a long-term substitute for the Secondary Campus.
• Crystal Warner's resignation as a full-time day-to-day substitute was accepted.
• Steven Pasternick was approved as a part-time general food service worker/server with specific pay and work schedule details.
• Angela Millikin was approved as a part-time custodian with specific pay and work schedule details.
• Larissa Santos and Mariangela Calabrese were approved as part-time para-educators with specific pay and work schedule details.
• Thomas Schwab was approved as a full-time custodian with specific pay and work schedule details.
• The retirements of professional employees Raelene Macking, Michael Sikora, and Suzanne Popko, as well as the resignations of part-time para-educators Matthew Coulter, Angela Millikin, and Bene Richie, were accepted.
• Michele Glassic was approved as a full-time day-to-day substitute for the current school year with specific pay details.
