Police in Winnipeg have arrested four people for selling illegal tobacco and cannabis at two convenience stores.
Last November, police were informed about the problem. An investigation revealed that the stores were selling age-restricted products to the public during business hours, despite the requirement that buyers be at least 18 years old.
Search warrants were issued for the stores located on the 100 block of Stadacona Street and the 200 block of Salter Street. On Monday, authorities confiscated numerous cartons of illegal cigarettes and marijuana, as well as over $11,000.
A 34-year-old man, two 37-year-old men, and a 41-year-old man are all facing multiple charges related to Manitoba’s Tobacco Taxation Act, Smoking and Vapour Products Control Act, and the Cannabis Act.
They are also charged with having funds acquired through criminal activities.
