The government said it is working on a program to ensure equality and empowerment for women.
The program is called the Gender Education, Engagement, Empowerment and Entrepreneurship Programme.
Sunday Asefon, the Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Student Engagement, announced this in a statement to PUNCH Online on Wednesday.
According to the statement, the GEEEEP aims to address the various challenges faced by women and girls in Nigeria.
It includes important pillars like education, engagement, empowerment, and entrepreneurship in order to provide comprehensive support and opportunities for women's progress.
Asefon stated that the Federal Government is devoted to promoting gender equality and creating a supportive environment for women's empowerment.
He also mentioned that GEEEEP will introduce various initiatives to meet the specific needs of women and girls.
“GEEEEP marks a significant achievement in our efforts to uplift and empower women and girls. Through education, engagement, empowerment, and entrepreneurship, we are establishing the groundwork for a more inclusive and prosperous society where every woman and girl can flourish,
“GEEEEP will introduce a variety of tailored initiatives to meet the specific needs of women and girls, including access to quality education, skills training, mentorship programs, and support for women entrepreneurs.
“By addressing systemic barriers and providing targeted interventions, the program aims to unlock the full potential of women and girls as drivers of social and economic development,” he said.
He also revealed that the Federal Government is taking decisive actions to build a fairer and more inclusive future for all with this initiative.
