Hallie Jackson, who is NBC News’ senior Washington correspondent, has been chosen to anchor the Sunday edition of NBC “Nightly News,” as announced by the network on Wednesday.
Jackson will begin hosting the Sunday program on April 7. Additionally, she will continue to host “Hallie Jackson NOW” which is aired on weekdays from 5:00-7:00 p.m. EST on the streaming service NBC News NOW.
In February, Kate Snow stepped down from her position as the Sunday anchor of “Nightly News,” in order to focus more on her cohosting duties for the popular afternoon show “NBC News Daily.” Snow had been the anchor of the Sunday edition for almost ten years before taking a step back last month.
Janelle Rodriguez, NBC News’ executive vice president of programming, stated in a release, “Hallie is an exceptional journalist and an extraordinary broadcaster, representing the very best of NBC News. She is a perfect match to anchor our main newscast on Sundays.”
In addition to her role as senior Washington correspondent and anchor, Jackson plays a significant part in NBC News’ 2024 election coverage, having co-anchored special coverage of Super Tuesday, President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address and other events.
Previously, Jackson served as NBC News’ chief White House correspondent during President Donald Trump’s administration. Jackson started at NBC News in 2014 as a correspondent.
Variety was the first to report the news.
