In a letter read during the hearing, Daniel Sanscartier said the coroner’s suggestions will deeply impact how mental health cases are handled in the future.
The examination is investigating the deaths of Sgt. Sanscartier, a police officer with 24 years of experience, says he is concerned about the future of young police officers, the safety of the public, and the suffering of parents with mentally ill children who feel neglected by the health system.
He says he remembers his late wife as a dedicated mother of two who immediately won him over with her charm, kindness and zest for life.
The coroner’s inquest is scheduled to finish on Thursday.
