Bola Tinubu, the President, stated that the economy is getting better and people in Nigeria will be happy again in the next few months.
He mentioned that some countries have had worse economic problems than Nigeria has had in the last few months.
Tinubu, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, made these statements while hosting ministers, service chiefs, and other top government officials at the Banquet Hall of the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja, for a Ramadan Iftar (breaking of the fast).
He said, “Fortunately, the economy is improving. With the grace of God, in the next few months, we will have a good harvest season and everyone will be happy again.
“Respected ministers, service chiefs, distinguished ladies and gentlemen, we have crossed the point of no return and the nation is on the path to continuous growth. Some nations have gone through worse situations in their history than us.
“The President is working for this nation. He has a good heart for the nation and we have the moral duty to support him in any way we can to save the nation.”
Tinubu called for prayers for the “return of peace and stability in the country,” describing Ramadan as a time of forgiveness and generosity.
He mentioned that the overlap of Lent and Ramadan “shows that what brings us together is greater than what divides us.”
The Attorney-General of the Federation, Mr. Lateef Fagbemi, thanked the President for the gesture and assured him of their support in ensuring the nation’s success.
He expressed, “Mr. President, thank you for hosting us this evening…I pray that Allah will continue to enable you. No matter how wealthy you are, there are still things you ask from him.
“I don’t have to look at the crystal ball, but I know one or two. May he grant you your requests.
“Regarding the state of the nation, all of us will work and support you to ensure success. This is the ninth day, and I pray that we will all see the end of Ramadan.”
The President’s second set of Iftar guests included cabinet members and service chiefs. More similar gatherings are expected to be hosted by the President with senior government officials during the holy month.
