Many impressive moves have been made, but there is more to do. According to Stefon Diggs of the Buffalo Bills might interest the Commanders if he is available for trade. According to Nick Faria of Pro Football Network, the Commanders are a potential landing spot for Diggs.
Bringing Diggs into the offense, alongside a top rookie like Drake Maye or Jayden Daniels, could have a major impact, especially with Terry McLaurin already in place.
The Commanders' new-look offense under Kliff Kingsbury requires quality receivers for their “Air-Raid” approach. With Curtis Samuel set to enter free agency, the likelihood of the Commanders needing another receiver is high. Thus, a trade for Diggs would make a lot of sense. Although Dan Quinn and Adam Peters are new to the organization, a trade like this could be a game-changer for the team.
Is Stefon Diggs Going to Be Traded?
The Washington Commanders are considering whether Diggs could be traded. After making moves to save money against the cap this offseason, perhaps Diggs could be the next player they seek to trade. At times, it has been evident that he’s frustrated with how things have unfolded during the postseason.
During an appearance on “Get Up” on March 18, ESPN’s Andrew Hawkins said the following about the current situation with Diggs and the Bills.
“I actually don’t think Diggs is going to be in a Buffalo uniform come next season.”
Hawkins made these comments after Diggs posted another enigmatic tweet.
This isn’t the first time Diggs has made comments on social media that have led to speculation. In fact, he’s made many such comments in recent years, causing speculation during multiple offseasons.
What Would Diggs Bring to the Commanders?
Acquiring Diggs would mean more than just getting a top receiving option for the Washington Commanders. When at his best, Diggs is arguably among the top five receivers in the NFL, as evidenced by his consistent career performance.
The 30-year-old has achieved over 1,000 yards in six consecutive seasons, with multiple seasons exceeding 1,200 yards.
More significantly, he would alleviate pressure from whoever the Commanders draft as their quarterback and Terry McLaurin. McLaurin has been an offensive force, consistently achieving 1,000 yards each season. Adding another receiver that demands defensive attention should only boost McLaurin's performance.
The timing and certainty of a potential trade involving Diggs are unknown, but if it happens, the Commanders should pursue him wholeheartedly.
