Mauricio Umansky addressed recent rumors about his personal and business life.
In a video interview released by TMZ on March 18, 2024, The Agency founder provided an update on his living arrangement with his estranged wife Kyle Richards and a business disagreement with his brother-in-law Rick Hilton. Umansky and Richards have been split up since July 2023 but still reside “under the same roof” in their Encino, California home.
Speaking with TMZ, Umansky confirmed that his separation from Richards will be a major focus in the second season of his Netflix spinoff “Buying Beverly Hills,” premiering on March 22.
“When the [separation] story broke, we were all together, filming ‘Buying Beverly Hills.’ It was real, as real as it can get. That’s reality TV. We decided to be vulnerable and open and allow it to happen on television,” he explained.
Umansky expressed his hope that fans can “learn” from his family's handling of the situation. “But it’s definitely going to feature on the show,” he added.
Viewers witnessed the initial moments of the split on Richards’ Bravo show, “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” after an undisclosed source leaked the couple’s separation news to People magazine last July.

During the final part of the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” season 13 reunion on March 13, Richards indicated that there had been discussions about Umansky moving out of their shared Encino home as they consider divorce. “It’s difficult for us to say that word, but if he’s looking for a place to move out, I haven’t really seen progress,” she stated.
However, Umansky told TMZ he hasn’t made progress with a housing search just yet.
“It’s a conversation we’re having,” he said. “I’m not quite there in that process. We’re in the middle of that conversation. And I think that, you know, once we figure that out I will definitely be happy to share what that looks like. But at this point, we’re still, I’m still not ready to share that.”

“Buying Beverly Hills” follows Umansky, his daughters Farrah, 35, Alexia, 27, and Sophia, 24, and other staff members at Umansky’s real estate brokerage firm, The Agency. Umansky initially worked for his brother-in-law, Rick Hilton, at Hilton & Hyland before founding The Agency in 2011.
He recounted the story of his departure in a sneak peek scene for “Buying Beverly Hills,” alleging that Hilton declined to promote him to partner. During the RHOBH season 13 reunion, Richards’ sister Kathy Hilton asserted that Umansky provided notice with only one day's warning. that he was leaving Hilton & Hyland and recruited a few agents as he left. Richards clarified that Umansky had already established a team with him at Hilton & Hyland.
Umansky’s niece, Paris Hilton, blasted him for discussing her father on his show. “My father behaves like a gentleman and consistently takes the high road,” she commented on a clip of Umansky’s “Buying Beverly Hills” scene on Instagram. “He would never speak negatively about his family- particularly in the press. Frankly, we're all tired of him using the Hilton name whenever he can to promote his unimpressive show. It's more than enough.”
During an interview with TMZ, Umansky acknowledged that he has not conversed with Rick or Paris. He also hopes to prevent a family dispute.
“I'm disappointed that they're upset, “Umansky noted. “I mean ultimately I don't feel like I said anything negative. I simply shared, you know, what took place in the story. Ultimately, it was two businessmen making decisions for their businesses. Rick made his decision, and I made mine. I'm striving to do what's best for my family, take care of them, and achieve as much success as possible. And I made a choice, and that choice came with risks. It could have failed or it could have been successful.”
“I just don't think it's that terrible, so I regret that they're upset. But I hope that subsides quickly because family is family,” Umansky added. “In all honesty, I have not spoken to them since Paris made that comment. I don't hold any grudges and certainly don't believe that I said anything to warrant their resentment. Hopefully it'll just blow over. I didn't intend any harm, it's just a fact.”
