Adam Schiff, a representative and Senate candidate from California, stated that if the Supreme Court does not promptly address Trump's immunity claim, it will further damage its reputation.
Schiff responded to a question about the delay in Trump's criminal cases during an interview on CNN's State Of The Union. He expressed concern that there is a possibility of Trump avoiding justice through delaying legal proceedings.
He highlighted that Trump has frequently used the tactic of delaying legal processes throughout his career, and he hopes the courts recognize this and do not support that strategy.
Regarding the delayed release of discovery in New York, Schiff emphasized the importance of reviewing the circumstances and suggested that the trial should not be further postponed if it was due to the Trump defense team's failure to request it earlier.
Schiff expressed his greatest concern about the January 6 case and emphasized the seriousness of the allegations against the president. He urged the Supreme Court to swiftly reject Trump's immunity claim, similar to how it quickly ruled on allowing Trump to appear on the ballot. He warned that a delayed decision would essentially serve to postpone the trial past the election, which he believes would be a detrimental decision for justice and the American voters.
Rep. Schiff expressed agreement with the view that a delayed ruling by the Supreme Court on Trump's immunity claim would indicate a serious need for reform within the court, as it has strayed from its intended function as outlined in the Constitution.
Schiff firmly stated that while it is certain the court will rule against Trump, it should not engage in unnecessary delays that serve Trump's interests.

Rep. Schiff's remarks underscore the potential for the Supreme Court to damage its credibility and functioning by failing to promptly address Trump's immunity claim, which has already been rejected by previous courts.
Schiff reiterated his belief that the Supreme Court must not delay its ruling on Trump's immunity claim as it would further harm the court's reputation if it avoids addressing the matter promptly.
