The Olofin of Isheri, Oba Sulaiman Bamgbade, has praised the Federal Government for giving the go-ahead to build the road that extends from Isheri North to the Ogun State route.
He said the Isheri-Ogun Road's construction offers an important different way compared to the busy Lagos-Shagamu Road, helping link people and reduce congestion for travelers.
On Wednesday, the Federal Executive Council approved N873.23 billion for three projects by the Ministry of Works.
The projects are the Obajana-Benin Road, Isheri-Ogun Road, and the Outer Marina Shoreline protection.
Dave Umahi, the Minister of Works, mentioned that the approval involves an extra N757 billion for the 489-kilometer Obajana-Benin Road, N2.23 billion for the Isheri-Ogun Road, and N114 billion for the Outer Marina Shoreline protection.
In a statement on Sunday, the monarch praised the FG and said the project, aside from improving accessibility, would help economic growth by making travel between Isheri-Olofin and nearby areas like Mokiti and Banku village easier.
He also mentioned that the road will link Isheri-Olofin and Ishawo in Ikorodu, Lagos.
The statement explained, "This extra connection highlights the road’s importance in improving regional connections and transportation networks across Lagos and Ogun States."
The Olofin Bamgbade, together with the people of Isheri-Olofin, acknowledges the profound impact of this approval, as it promises to create new opportunities and enhance the socio-economic landscape of their community. In addition, completing this project represents a significant achievement in ongoing efforts to reduce congestion on the Lagos-Shagamu Road, improving overall transportation efficiency in the region.
“His Royal Majesty expresses gratitude to the Bola Tinubu administration for prioritising the development and welfare of their community. This joint effort underscores the government’s dedication to enhancing infrastructure and the importance of public-private partnerships in driving progress and prosperity.
“As the Isheri-Ogun road project moves forward, they eagerly anticipate witnessing the real benefits it will bring to their community and the broader region.
