Toronto fire teams fought a fire at the Ward’s Island Community Centre early on Sunday.
Emergency responders received calls about the fire at around 2:20 a.m. When firetrucks arrived, the building was fully engulfed in flames.
Firefighters from the mainland arrived by boat to help put out the fire.
Fire officials chose to fight the fire from outside the building due to concerns about its structure.
Residents reported no signs of anyone inside the building, but crews conducted a search to ensure everyone's safety. No injuries have been reported so far.
The fire has been extinguished, but firefighters will remain on the scene as a precaution on Sunday.
