MainOne, a digital infrastructure company, has stated that it has successfully restored services for some of its customers.
The company has mentioned that it is taking steps to restore services for other customers by using capacity obtained from available cable systems.
The company provided this information in an update shared with PUNCH Online on Saturday.
“We have restored services for some customers and are actively working on restoring services for others using capacity acquired from available cable systems
“The estimated time to fix the submarine cable fault and fully restore services, independently supply capacity to our customers is being worked on,” MainOne said.
Acutting of the undersea cable on Thursday led to a significant reduction in data services for Nigeria and countries in the West African sub-region.
MainOne provides connectivity and hybrid cloud solutions to commercial and microfinance institutions, including ISPs, government agencies, small to large enterprises, and educational institutions.
The service provider stated on Friday that it had a maintenance agreement with Atlantic Cable Maintenance and Repair Agreement to provide repair services for its submarine cable.
The company mentioned that it could take up to five weeks to repair its damaged submarine cable.
MainOne’s infrastructure is important for banking operations, so major financial institutions are looking for alternative solutions to ensure continuous banking activities despite the service disruption.
