Jimmy Fallon had a good time celebrating St. Patrick’s Day in advance on Friday’s episode of “The Tonight Show.” He didn’t get intoxicated on camera, but he did recite some witty limericks, including one about the election that referred to Joe Biden as “a saltine” and Trump as “a Cheeto.”
Following more jokes about current events, Bill Murray appeared on stage and interrupted the monologue so he and Ernie Hudson could discuss the new “Ghostbusters” movie. Entertaining content available for viewing above.
“This Sunday is St. Patrick’s Day. It’s a day for enjoyment. Then the next day people see all the intoxicated photos of themselves and edit them similar to the royal family,” Fallon quipped.
“I enjoy St. Patrick’s Day because even non-Irish individuals try to explain their slight Irish connection, saying things like ‘Yeah, I saw U2.’ And of course, what’s St. Patrick’s Day without corned beef and cabbage? I, like a proper Irishman, started boiling mine around mid January.”
Discussing ways to celebrate, Fallon added, “I thought maybe it’s better to share a few of my favorite Irish limericks with you right now.” And so he did.
“St. Patrick’s Day is here. A time to drink green beer. But if you have more than three, the next morning you’ll be having 'shamrock shake' movements,” Fallon said.
“March Madness. I truly love you. So I joined an office betting pool. But the teams I relied on made my bracket go bust. Now I owe 20 thousand dollars to Fanduely,” Fallon continued.
“During spring break, the students were excitedly glowing. Then they let out a squeal, lost the door and the wheel, I guess they shouldn’t have traveled in a Boeing,” Fallon continued.
Then he got to the election joke. “In the race for president, we see. The polls show it’s a tie. The campaign is long. The candidates aren’t strong. A choice between ‘a saltine and a Cheeto’.”
