Seth Meyers has been hosting “Late Night” for 10 years now for 10 years now, but the host definitely still gets nervous meeting some guests. There’s one that stands out as “the hardest one” for him to keep his cool around.
Actor Paul Rudd visited “Late Night” on Thursday night to promote his new movie “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire”. During the discussion, he and Meyers talked about interacting with actors they admire. Rudd mentioned that it takes time for him to gather the courage to ask his idols about their famous work. He was interested to know if Meyers also feels nervous around certain guests. Meyers confirmed this and shared his biggest struggle.
Rudd asked Meyers about his approach to interviewing and how he manages to ask straightforward questions about specific projects with ease.
Meyers admitted that the hardest guest for him was David Letterman. He felt the pressure to act normal because Letterman wouldn't want him to express admiration. Meyers had to constantly remind himself to just act normal.
Rudd was especially interested in Meyers’ interviewing technique.
Meyers believes that it's important to genuinely express his curiosity and not try to sneak in questions. He thinks the most enjoyable part is simply asking questions without beating around the bush.
He added that it's fun to ask questions because he wants to know the answers, and the party might end soon.
