At the Ago-Igbala Bus Stop on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Thursday, more than 13 passengers were hurt in several car accidents.
The Ogun State Police Command had previously reported that eight individuals were injured and quickly taken to a hospital as a result of the accidents.
However, Florence Okpe, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Command of the Federal Road Safety Commission, mentioned in an interview that the number of victims had risen to 13. According to Florence Okpe, no lives were lost in the accident, which occurred along the First Bank corridor. A total of 18 passengers were involved, with 13 sustaining injuries. The accidents were caused by speeding, involving a truck and two yellow commercial buses.
Florence Okpe mentioned, “No lives were lost in the accident that occurred along the First Bank corridor. Eighteen passengers were involved, with thirteen sustaining injuries. The cause of the accidents was speeding.”
Meanwhile, PUNCH Metro The multiple crashes, involving two commercial buses and a Tipper Iveco Fiat, occurred just in front of Osadol Filling Station at around 8.12am.
A collision involving a Tipper Iveco Fiat with registration number OGUN LAR 65 and a commercial bus with registration number BDG 71 YA caused another commercial bus with registration number LAGOS EKY 72 YA to crash, resulting in the accident.
The police reported that these fatal collisions caused the two commercial buses to crash into the filling station and damage some of its pipes.
Omolola Odutola, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, confirmed the incident and mentioned that the truck driver had been apprehended. The truck driver has been arrested and is currently in custody.
