If you enjoyed the movie “Poor Things,” you don't have to wait long for director Yorgos Lanthimos and recently awarded 2-time Oscar winner Emma Stone to work together again. Their next film, “Kinds of Kindness,” will hit theaters on June 21.
Searchlight revealed the title and release date of the movie, as well as the cast, which includes Stone’s “Poor Things” co-star Willem Dafoe, as well as Jesse Plemons, Margaret Qualley, Hong Chau, Joe Alwyn, Mamoudou Athie, and Hunter Schaefer.
Adding “Kinds of Kindness” to the summer lineup makes June 21 a big day for movie fans, as that is also when Focus Features will release the Jeff Nichols drama “The Bikeriders” featuring Austin Butler, Jodie Comer, Tom Hardy and Michael Shannon. This film was scheduled for a June release after being delayed due to the SAG-AFTRA strike.
“Poor Things” was successful at the box office during the winter, a pattern that was common for Oscar-nominated films before the pandemic. The film leveraged its awards buzz to earn a total of $108.7 million globally. It also won four Academy Awards in Best Makeup, Costume Design, Production Design and Actress.
Stone, who earned her second Oscar seven years after her first for “La La Land,” is also set to appear in the Ari Aster contemporary western “Eddington” with Joaquin Phoenix and Pedro Pascal.
