Prophet Sam Olu Alo, from the Planter, Christ Apostolic Church, Adamimogo Grace of Mercy Prayer Mountain Worldwide, has advised Muslims in the country to use Ramadan to enhance community spirit and unity.
While congratulating Muslims on observing the annual fast, the cleric encouraged them to utilize the period for self-reflection and to pray for the country.
According to a statement on Wednesday signed by his Personal Assistant, Deji Ogunbusuyi, Alo noted the significance of this year's Ramadan coinciding with the Christian Lent period.
“This is incredibly meaningful and demonstrates a shared dedication to spiritual devotion and self-discipline by both faiths.
“Ramadan means more than just abstaining from food and drink from dawn until sunset; it's a time for spiritual growth, self-discipline, and empathy. It's a chance for Muslims to get closer to God, fortify their faith, and strengthen their connections with other community members,” he explained.
“The true meaning of Ramadan lies in the principles of sacrifice, humility, appreciation, compassion, and awareness of our obligations to our Creator and humanity. As our Muslim brothers and sisters undertake this spiritual journey, may these virtues reinforce their faith and motivate them to be models of peace, justice, and service to our country.
“The Ramadan Fast should cultivate empathy for the less fortunate, reminding us of the importance of charity and kindness to others, regardless of their background or circumstances.
‘’As Ramadan begins, I urge our Muslim brothers and sisters to contemplate the values and principles of this sacred month. Let's strive to foster a spirit of forgiveness, tolerance, and unity in our communities. Rather than concentrating on differences, let's work to strengthen the ties that unite us.
‘’In the spirit of Ramadan, let's also remember to pray for Nigeria. May our nation be blessed with peace, prosperity, and unity. May we overcome our challenges and work together towards a brighter future for all.”
