Dr Bukola Saraki, a former Senate President, urged religious leaders, including Muslim believers, to pray for Nigeria's improvement during Ramadan.
He made this request while hosting various groups for Iftar at his home in Ilorin and distributing food to Muslim believers and others in Kwara State.
People who received the food included traditional rulers, Islamic scholars, party members, artisans, youth, and women's groups.
His Press Officer on Local Matters in Ilorin, Abdulganiyu Abdulqadir, shared this in a statement to journalists on Wednesday.
The statement mentioned that distributing food was part of Saraki's regular practice and aimed to ensure everyone could observe Ramadan comfortably.
During the evening meal at his home, Saraki emphasized the importance of spreading love and coming together during Ramadan and beyond.
He also repeated his call for prayer for the nation during a time of rising security challenges and economic hardship.
“I am very happy to be with you all during this pious and prayerful season, to pray and have Iftar as directed by Prophet Mohammed (SAW).
I value your presence and love, and I would like to ask you to spend the fasting period praying for a change in our nation's fortunes.
“Let's also continue to show love, unite, and build a strong force for the liberation our land,” he said.
On Monday, the Waziri Ngeri of Ilorin Emirate arrived in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital. Since then, he has been hosting political associates, individuals, and groups.
