A number of people were forced to leave their home in Central Hamilton, Ontario, on Tuesday after a severe fire tore through their residence.
The two-and-one-half-storey house sustained almost $800,000 in damages. fire The fire, which produced very high temperatures on the upper floor, caused the firefighters to leave the building due to poor visibility.
Chief Dave Cunliffe explained, "Thick smoke was now coming out of all openings on the third floor."
"The person in charge of the operation decided to evacuate all firefighters from the residence and start fighting the fire from outside."
An examination of the residence at 60 Prospect St. after the fire confirmed that no residents or pets were inside during the fire.
According to Cunliffe, the cause of the fire has not yet been found.
