House Republicans received bad news when Rep. Ken Buck (R-CO) said he would resign next Friday, making their House majority even smaller.
Buck explained to CNN why he is leaving earlier than planned:
I believe this place is not working well. For example, even though I am the third-ranking member of the Judiciary Committee, I haven't had a chance to ask my questions yet. 40-50 people have gone before me.
…
A lot of this is personal, and that's the issue. Instead of working professionally and reaching a quorum, this place has turned into bickering and nonsense, not really serving the American people.

Buck leaving early means that a Republican majority struggling to govern is very close to losing their majority. House Republicans are already struggling to govern, and now they will need Democrats' help for everything.
Republicans are close to not having enough votes to maintain their majority. If another Republican gets sick or also resigns early, the GOP might not have a majority of votes in the House. If Speaker Johnson is wise, he would put the Ukraine aid bill on the floor and accept the deal that Hakeem Jeffries proposed: if Johnson allows the Ukraine aid to pass, Democrats will help him keep his position.
The Republican House majority is disappearing right before our eyes.
