A woman named Nimotalahi Ishola jumped into the lagoon while on a ferry at Igando in the Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State.
According to PUNCH Online, the incident occurred around 9 pm on Saturday after the boat departed from Isuti jetty in the community.
Ishola was on the boat with 11 other passengers, heading to the Totowu area of Ogun State, when she suddenly took off her life jacket and jumped into the water.
A police source told the correspondent that a bottle of insecticide was found among her belongings left behind on the boat.

According to the source, she left behind a bag containing insecticide, Alimosho General Hospital cards, and some medication.
The police detectives visited the scene, and a search team has been formed to retrieve the body.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, also verified the incident.
He mentioned that the investigation is ongoing, and they are working to contact her family.
Similarly, the representative for the Lagos State Waterways Authority, Wuraola Alake, mentioned that a ferry with 17 passengers collided with a submerged concrete at a construction site around the power line corridor at the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge, resulting in one fatality.
