Around 60,000 students from Ogun State studying in all tertiary institutions nationwide will receive a N50,000 relief fund from the state government.
The Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, announced that students in public and private tertiary institutions will receive the cash award.
The Educational Cash Award for Student Help, called OgunEduCASH, is a program to help learners in public primary and secondary schools, as well as public and private tertiary institutions across Nigeria, due to the current economic challenges on learners and their parents.
Governor Dapo Abiodun announced it in February as part of the state’s relief measures.
Every student from Ogun State is eligible for N50,000 from the state government.
“The state government aims to also provide N10,000 each to 10,000 indigent students in public primary and secondary schools in the three senatorial districts,” Arigbabu added.
“Some students have confirmed receiving the N50,000 and praised the governor for the gesture.
