While the Milwaukee Bucks faced off against the Los Angeles Lakers, Damian Lillard reached a significant achievement by making his 2,561st three-pointer, moving him ahead of Reggie Miller to fourth place in all-time NBA three-pointers made.
During the game, Miller messaged Lillard via Haynes’ X account.
with congratulations and admiration for his hard work and success as a shooter.
Miller also conveyed his praise to Lillard, which was posted by the Bucks’ Official X account.
as he commended Lillard for his clutch performances and congratulated him.
Miller wasn't the first to hit a three-pointer in the NBA, but he was the first star to specialize in it. The NBA only introduced the three-point shot in 1979, and Miller was the first to fully utilize it to his and the Pacers’ advantage.
Damian Lillard is now fourth, following Ray Allen, Stephen Curry, and James Harden, in three-pointers made, surpassing Miller.
Damian Lillard Reveals His Dream Starting Five
While speaking with influencer “nelsontheprodigy_,” Damian Lillard shared who he would pick for his ideal starting five. He excluded Giannis Antetokounmpo and his Bucks teammates from the lineup.
“It would consist of me, LeBron (James), Steph(en Curry), Kevin Durant, and I’m gonna go with Bam Adebayo,” Lillard stated.
None of these players have played with Lillard in the NBA, so it’s possible that he excluded Antetokounmpo because he currently plays with him.
Lillard did compete with Durant and Adebayo on Team USA in 2021 during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. It was also widely reported that Lillard initially wanted to join the Heat when he requested a trade from Portland.
Damian Lillard’s contract is set to end in 2027, per Spotrac, so even if he desires to team up with any of those players, he will have to wait a while before he has the opportunity.
Charles Barkley Does Not Consider the Bucks Intimidating
Despite holding a top-3 seed in the Eastern Conference, Charles Barkley doesn’t find the Bucks daunting.
On the March 7 NBA on TNT broadcast, Barkley expressed, “Other than the Celtics, there’s not a single team in the East that scares you,” according to NBA on TNT’s X account.
He acknowledged the presence of Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard, but that's not sufficient for him to believe in the Bucks.
“[The Bucks have] Giannis and Dame, but nobody fears them because they don’t have a lot of athletic ability.
The Bucks boast one of the NBA’s top players in Antetokounmpo, and Lillard is a strong scorer as his second-in-command. However, the Bucks are on track to have a worse record than the previous season and are unlikely to secure the No. 1 seed.
The playoffs will be the opportunity for the Bucks to prove Barkley wrong, but that will be a bridge they cross when they get there.
