RCMP near Morinville, Alta., stated that on Wednesday, they had to use a police vehicle to stop a truck, after a vehicle collided with a police vehicle and an officer was attacked on a highway north of Edmonton.
Officers were reacting to a report about a reckless driver who was overtaking vehicles on the side of Highway 28 and 642 at about 3:30 a.m.
RCMP mentioned that shortly after the truck crashed into one of their vehicles, the driver started behaving erratically and waving his arms.
Police stated that while trying to stop the vehicle, an officer was attacked. They mentioned that the man was able to drive away despite the use of a taser and OC (pepper) spray. Officers managed to use one of the vehicles to compel the truck to come to a halt.
Officers examined the vehicle and discovered a firearm inside.
Eric Steven Brown, 34, faces multiple charges, such as assaulting a police officer, fleeing from police, and operating a motor vehicle dangerously.
Brown is set to appear in court on March 11.
